Meet Yana Marks: The Sydney Tradie Taking Over Love Island Australia
She might be known now as a Love Island contestant, but before stepping into the villa, Yana Marks was better known on job sites across Sydney - tools in hand, work boots on, and running her own business as The Sydney Plumber Chick.
Now, the tradie-turned-entrepreneur is making waves on national TV, and the world’s finally meeting the woman behind Trade Chicks - the Aussie workwear brand built for women who get the job done.
From Plumber to Prime Time: Yana’s Journey
Yana’s story started far before reality TV.
As one of the few women on site, she saw firsthand how limited and uncomfortable most workwear options were for women in the trades. Nothing fit properly. Nothing felt like it was actually made for them.
So, she built her own path.
Balancing the hustle of plumbing with showing her trade online on her page @sydneyplumberchick, Yana used her social platforms to show the real side of being a woman on the tools - no filters, just honesty and a bit of cheek.
That authenticity quickly resonated with thousands of people across Australia who’d been waiting to see someone like. Raw, real and saying it like it is.
Fast-forward to 2025, and she’s on Love Island Australia, representing hardworking, confident women everywhere - and showing that tradies can absolutely steal the spotlight. Because women can do it all, and as they should be able to!
What Is Trade Chicks and Why She Built It
While Yana’s time in the villa might be full of glam and sunshine, Trade Chicks is where her real passion lies.
The brand was born from a simple but powerful idea: workwear designed by a tradie, for tradie women.
Every piece - from the Site Pants to the Bodysuits and Hoodies - is made to move, flatter, and last.
It’s not just about the fit; it’s about confidence. Yana wanted women to feel comfortable walking onto a site or into a café after knock-off, without needing to change a thing.
Since launching, Trade Chicks has become more than just workwear. It’s a movement for women in trades - builders, sparkies, plumbers, mechanics, and everyone in between — who are done settling for second-best gear.
Empowering Women On and Off the Tools
Yana’s journey is proof that empowerment doesn’t look one way.
Whether she’s fixing pipes, filming a campaign, or navigating Love Island challenges, she’s pushing the same message: you can own your space, no matter where you are.
Trade Chicks carries that same energy. The brand champions comfort, quality, and confidence - encouraging women to take up space in male-dominated industries and celebrate their strength, their style, and their individuality.
Here at Trade Chicks we want to empower and support all women, especially in a space predominantly taken by men. Yana strives every day to show that and give confidence to women everywhere. We're so proud of our girl, and all she continues to do.
